Step inside the Mountain Retreat room at The Lodge Bellingen , and you’ll feel it instantly — warmth, stillness, and that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to speak loudly to be noticed.

At the heart of the room is the cabinetry. Deep navy blue wraps the space with a calm, grounded energy, offering a rich contrast to the soft timber shelving and bench details. Together, these earthy tones create a kitchen that feels like it was made for the mountains — thoughtful, welcoming, and timeless.

This space wasn’t just built to function — it was built to feel. To hold a quiet morning. To frame a glass of wine after a long walk. To invite pause, presence, and a sense of ease that every great retreat should offer.

At Sawtell Kitchens, we were proud to design and build this kitchen and cabinetry for The Lodge’s Mountain Retreat room. The palette was inspired by the land itself — warm timber textures, rich colours, and clean, uncluttered lines that complement the natural surroundings.

Everything here was made locally, by hand, with care. Built to not only last — but to belong.

We believe that good design can shift a space. It can welcome you home, even when you’re far from it. And in this project, that belief comes to life in every drawer, shelf and surface.
